Teeth Whitening Vs. Veneers
When it comes to your smile, our team at Elan Dentistry wants you to be confident and happy. Unfortunately, due to the food and beverages that we consume daily, our teeth can start to become stained and discolored over time. Luckily for you, we offer restorative and cosmetic dentistry solutions here at our La Habra, California office.
There are different ways you can immediately enhance the appearance of your smile. Our two most popular options are teeth whitening and dental veneers. To learn more about the benefits of each option, please keep reading.
Teeth Whitening
Professional teeth whitening is the fastest way to dramatically brighten your smile. In our office, we offer take-home whitening kits that allow you to whiten your teeth at home and on your own time. With this treatment, we provide dental whitening bleach and custom-made bleach trays made here in our office. The bleach can be easily placed into the molds, and then pressed against the outer surface of your teeth.
The first step of the teeth whitening process involves taking impressions of your teeth to make a full mold of your smile. We can then make custom bleaching trays by melting and suctioning soft dental plastic over the molds.
Depending on the current shade of your smile and your desired results, we will determine the right length of treatment for you.
Professional teeth whitening is for our patients who are looking for a simple, yet dramatic change in the appearance of their smile. Although whitening isn’t completely permanent, you can continue whitening for multiple sessions, as often as your dentist recommends.
Dental Veneers
If you are looking for a quick and effective way to drastically change your smile, dental veneers could be the right option for you. A dental veneer is a small, thin porcelain shell that covers the outer surface of the tooth. Veneers can be customized to change almost any characteristic of your smile, including:
- Misalignment
- Close gaps
- Uneven heights or lengths
- Stains and discoloration
- Overall smile shade
After taking impressions and making a full smile mold, we send the mold and list of desired changes to the dental lab to make your personalized veneers. Each veneer is custom made to fit your smile perfectly.
Compared to teeth whitening, veneers are a more permanent cosmetic procedure that only require minor adjustments and touch-ups as time goes on.
